Increase your employability.

Approximately 30 % of the jordanian population is 19 – 30 years of age. Employment is one of the challenge for them. Unemployment results in inactivity and uncertainty, and it foments feelings of frustration and helplessness.

The employability of a person is based on specific skills (hard skills, knowledge, experiences) but soft skills support it and they often make the difference. In today’s workplace the need for soft skills is widely considered as vital.
Soft skills contribute to work performance in combination with technical or hard skills and knowledge, basic skills (language, literacy and numeracy) and personal values. Soft skills make the differences between jobseekers. Employers emphasis on the candidates’ personal qualities and attitudes (soft skills). Individuals should invest in their soft skill development in order to improve their employability level.

A wide range of studies recommends to further pursue recent steps aimed to include life and soft skills in education curricula. In addition career guidance and counseling are essential auxiliary factors that can help young people attain their professional goals.

A training on life and soft skills plus career guidance is in need the assist individuals in education to work transition.

Unique and innovative approach

IYAF created, developed and piloted a tailor-made program, called Tareeqak Akafak. We deliver life and soft skills training plus career guidance and thereby work on crucial factors in education to work transition. The program is based on three pillars: mentoring, experiential learning and career guidance. Our slogan: “Mentoring youth for employment – shape characters.”

9 weeks | 13 modules | 143 units of learning

The modules are based on group learning, 10 participants start the program together. Each participant will undergo the program with the same group he started with. During the journey, modules are in a setting of 3 participants and rounded up one-one mentoring. In that way we provide participants with a supportive environment from the start on.

Learning is not only based on a typical classroom setting, we lead participants out of their own comfort zone. In general, the program is not stationary and bound to a place, modules are exercised in the participant’s environment, exceptions are the experiential/outdoor modules 1, 3, 5 and 10. Here modules take place in an unfamiliar environment, which encourages the openness and freedom to learn. The combination of both assists to transfer learning.

Between the modules we provide one-on-one mentoring and online journaling exercises. After each module participants take agency in learning and create their own lessons learned video (edutainment techniques).

Modules are building up on each other therefore the learning curve is steadily increasing.
